Aquarium II System

Many reef aquarium keepers use reverse osmosis systems for their artificial mixture of seawater. Ordinary tap water can often contain excessive chlorine, chloramines, copper, nitrogen, phosphates, silicates, or many other chemicals detrimental to the sensitive organisms in a reef environment. Contaminants such as nitrogen compounds and phosphates can lead to excessive, and unwanted, algae growth. Aquasafes three Stages of D.I filtration are utilized to ensure that none of these potentially lethal contaminants enter into the Aquatic environment. An effective combination of both reverse osmosis and de-mineralization by Ionization (RO/DI) is the most popular among reef aquarium keepers and is preferred above other water purification processes due to the low cost of ownership and minimal running costs.

Filter Specifications

STAGE 1:  (SED; 5 Micron Sedimentary Filter)
Sediment Removal / PP– Commercial grade sediment filter. Sediment filtration extracts suspended sediment, dirt, rust, silt and sand ranging from filtration of 20 microns down to 5 microns. Reduces particles 8 times smaller than what the naked eye can see.

STAGE 2:  (GAC; 5 Micron Granular Activated Carbon for Chemicals)

Granulated Activated Carbon /UDF - High efficiency pre-filter reduces and removes: chlorine, volatile organic compounds (V.O.C), pesticides, nitrates, herbicides, tastes, odor, and disinfection by products (Chloramines, THM, TCE). Cartridges are constructed totally of FDA grade materials and media. In addition KDF media may be used for the removal of lead and other heavy metals.

STAGE 3:  (CCB; 1 Micron Coconut Carbon Block for Chemicals)

Carbon Block Filter / CTO – High efficiency pre-filter removes Chlorine, then reduces or removes Pesticides, Nitrates, Herbicides, tastes, odor, and disinfection by-products (chloramines, THM, TCE), Volatile Organic Compounds (V.O.C).

STAGE 4:  (100 GPD Reverse Osmosis Membrane)
Reverse Osmosis Membrane- This semi permeable membrane filters and rejects tiny impurities, colloid, heavy metal, dissolvable solids, germs and other harmful substances. Virtually only water molecules and dissolved oxygen can pass through the membrane.  The rejected contaminants are flushed to drain. The product water is essentially nothing but high quality, low TDS water.

STAGE 5:  (Demineralization by Ionization DI Resin Bead Filtration)
Resin Filter / Demineralization by Ionization– Removes hard water minerals through an ion exchange process. Intended to prevent inorganic calcium, magnesium, and soluble iron etc...  Greatly increases quality of filtration and virtually eliminates mineral related water issues such as excessive and unwated algea growths.

STAGE 6:  (Demineralization by Ionization DI Resin Bead Filtration)
Resin Filter / Demineralization by Ionization– Removes hard water minerals through an ion exchange process. Intended to prevent inorganic calcium, magnesium, and soluble iron etc...  Greatly increases quality of filtration and virtually eliminates mineral related water issues such as excessive and unwated algea growths.

STAGE 7:  (Demineralization by Ionization DI Resin Bead Filtration)
Resin Filter / Demineralization by Ionization– Removes hard water minerals through an ion exchange process. Intended to prevent inorganic calcium, magnesium, and soluble iron etc...  Greatly increases quality of filtration and virtually eliminates mineral related water issues such as excessive and unwated algea growths.
